Marlana + Mike | Nass family + engagement session at the Clinton Airport
Marlana and Mike are excited to celebrate their marriage with friends and family in just a couple of weeks! When they came to me about photographing their wedding, one of the questions they asked was if their engagement session could include their four children. And to them I said, yes! Absolutely! I always welcome couples with kids to incorporate them into their engagement session. I totally understand that when there are kids in the picture, a marriage is about more than bringing 2 people together and all about bringing 2 families together.
Another question they had… can they be taken at the airport? Um… OH YEAH! I love unique locations and this one is a huge part of their love story. Now I’m going to something a little different. The happy couple shared a story about their wedding rings with me and all of their guests and included it in with the wedding invitation. It’s far too sweet not to share on their blog post as well. So here is the story in their words.
“Once upon a time there was a girl who met a pilot and they liked each other very much. The girl liked the was he could fix anything and was happy when he took her flying at sunset (or anytime for that matter). The pilot liked how the girl loved to help him fix things and thought it was cute when she wore her hair in a messy ponytail. The pilot liked to teach her things and she wrote him notes on paper airplanes that said, “I love you.” One day, the girl and the pilot were talking and she told him, “I would say yes even if you put a zip tie on my finger.” The pilot told her, “A piece of safety wire would work better.” A little while later the pilot got himself two pieces of gold wire. He twisted the wires together and put a shiny stone in the middle with two little stones on each side. The pilot wasn’t the only one working on a special project. Around that same time, the girl started stealing pieces of the pilot’s airplane (don’t worry, they were not important pieces). She also had a surprise for her pilot. While sitting in front of the fireplace one chilly night, after a perfect day spent with family, the pilot asked his girl a very important question. The girl was so excited she forgot to look at the ring before she said YES! But when she did, she knew her pilot loved her very much. The ring looked like that piece of safety wire he had promised her, and those stones on the side were for each of their four children. “This is us in the middle, these are the kids on the side…because we are bringing two families together,” he explained to her. But remember those stolen airplane parts? The girl had made a ring out of them for her pilot. “This is from your airplane,” she told him, and he knew she also loved him very much.”
