Get Excited for Your Session Regardless of the Forecast

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients show up to their session on an overcast day bummed about the lack of sunshine. And equally, how many times clients have shown up wondering if the sun was too harsh. I have great news, you’re good with either!

Why I love the sunshine?

Good sun provides plenty of light which is obviously what we want in the photography world! It allows for creative lighting situations, a beautiful glow illuminating the subjects, vivid colors and creamy skin tones. All of that being said, it does limit the location possibilities quite a bit. When the sun is shining particularly bright in the sky, there is usually only going to be one direction I can shoot from to keep things looking flattering.

This brings me to…why I love the clouds?

Even though an overcast day limits our pretty glow and creative lighting possibilities, it gives us more freedom to move around. While there still is a best direction even with clouds, they act as a natural diffuser and soften the light, making it more even and flattering anywhere we go! I love the clean colors, even skin-tones and moody vibes you get on a cloudy day.

Whatever the forecast is saying, just know I’ve got you covered. Let yourself embrace the mood and let it be a part of your story! Even rainy days provide us with options… visit my blog “5 Things to Do if it’s Raining on Picture Day” to learn more about those options!
