Vendor Spotlight / Four Tips to Rock Your Wedding Day Video {from Little Sea Productions}
Colin from Little Sea Productions is an up-and-coming wedding videographer who has experience working on commercial projects, animation, and now wedding films! I asked him to share some tips for couples interested in hiring a videographer for their big day. Here is what he has to say!
Share, share, share! Let your videographer truly get to know you so they can capture your film in a way that feels authentically you guys!
Colin explained, “I first like to get to know the couple as much as possible. The more I get to know their personality, the better 'feel' I'll have for how their film should be. I want to capture what's most important to them and their personality. It's got to match them. What's the point of having a wedding film if it isn't "their" wedding film? I'll create a questionnaire for the couple to fill out so I can get to know them better as well as meet with them in person. So, the more info they give me the better!”Details matter! Think about all the details you have planned and let your videographer know not only what they are, but WHY they are important.
Colin expressed the importance of knowing what these significant displays, decorations, sentimental items, even locations mean to you so he has a better idea of how to capture them and what to focus more time on.Tell them the timeline! Better yet, print a bunch of copies and hand them out to all the vendors and VIPs.
It is especially important to share a detailed timeline with the vendors who are in charge of capturing your day because we all need to make sure we understand the schedule and know exactly where to be at what time.
And Colin’s top tip for getting an amazing wedding video is simply to enjoy your day!
He shared, “no matter what you do, the wedding day won't be "perfect" depending on how you define it. I say that because the wedding day goes by so fast, that I want to make sure they're taking it all in and actually enjoying it. I'm all for details and planning, but when it comes to the day of the event, you've got to enjoy it. Lots of things might happen that aren't planned, but that doesn't mean it isn't special. Don't sweat the small stuff. It makes for a better wedding film when you're not overly stressed and I'm able to capture your true emotions and happiness. Maybe one of the guests dresses a little goofy -- ah so be it...that's how they are. A lot of those things add up to good memories and unique characteristics. Let them happen (to a certain extent, of course).
I would love to know your thoughts on hiring a wedding videographer to capture your day in motion! I obviously LOVE pictures, but I see them both as important and wonderful ways to relive the special memories on your wedding day. I truly enjoyed working alongside Colin because he is very professional, passionate and creative. I would recommend him to any of my clients!
