Brennan + Colton / the sweetest wedding at The Vista Grande

Brennan and Colton are the absolute sweetest couple ever! I have enjoyed every minute of working with them over the last year while they planned the wedding of their dreams.

It went off without a hitch, well… without many hitches anyway. The biting gnats and troublesome earrings tried to cause problems, but those were minimal moments in what ended up being such a perfect, beautiful, amazing wedding day!

We started the day getting ready at the Hampton Inn. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a bridesmaids first look. The more heartfelt reactions to seeing the beautiful bride, the better! Once everyone was ready to roll we headed to the Bickelhaupt Arboretum for the big first look with Brennan’s handsome groom, Colton. The nerves were definitely present… but only until the moment they saw each other standing there. I swear all the worries just melted away once their arms wrapped around one another.

Side note, have your family coordinate with the wedding colors (not matching of course, just similar) because their family photos turned out so beautiful with the color story fitting their wedding day vibes! A huge thank you to the family and friends in this wedding because everyone was where they needed to be and when (which seriously never happens)! It made the day stay right on schedule. And I mean, literally, the entire day was on time and after 13 years as a wedding photographer, this is VERY rare! Good job Miller wedding VIPs!

It was nice and sunny but not overly hot for June 18th! The ceremony was able to be outdoors as the couple planned, and it was a fun one! Their officiant was hilarious. As the mom-of-the-groom said, “we laughed, we cried, it was perfect - exactly what a wedding should be!”

Everyone was so ready to party once we hit the reception and it SHOWS. It’s always the couple portraits that are my favorite photos of the day, but these party shots are pretty high up there this time! I love the energy and the smiles and the pure love and celebration that brings you all the way back to that night.

I hope Brennan and Colton can relive that perfect, sweet, fun day for so many years to come every time they look at their wedding photos. That’s the ultimate goal of a wedding photographer after all.

Always tell your photographer about sentimental family heirlooms. They need to be photographed! <3

Okay, this is such a fun tradition that I haven’t heard of before! The groom’s mom’s side of the family does an “Outlaw Photo” at every wedding. It’s all of the people who have married into their family. I love that they still made sure to include Colton’s dad Bo because he will forever be one of the outlaws!

Brennan’s grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary the day before her wedding! She was so kind to dedicate a dance to them on her big day and it was clear to see how much it meant to them.
